Robert Schuller’s daughter assumes lead pastor role at Crystal Cathedral

The daughter of the Rev. Robert H. Schuller has taken the permanent role of lead pastor at the Crystal Cathedral, the Southern California megachurch he founded.

Coleman was officially affirmed in the role at a tearful Sunday service at the church where she has already been serving largely as leader.

But Crystal Cathedral’s senior pastor Sheila Coleman expressed outrage in an interview Sunday after rumors spread across the media and Internet that her father, famed televangelist Robert H. Schuller, was stepping down.

“Dad is not retiring,” she said. “I told that Dad’s role would not be changing and mine would not be changing.”

Christians sometimes refer to Schuller as “the evangelist without a gospel.”
