Second arrest made at Texas FLDS compound

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Authorities arrested a second man at the YFZ Ranch in Eldorado Monday night and booked him into the Schleicher County Jail.

Leroy Johnson Steed, 41, was arrested for tampering with physical evidence. He is to be arraigned today.

Also on Monday, law officers arrested Levi Barlow Jeffs, 19, for interfering with the duties of a public servant, a class B misdemeanor. He was booked into jail but was released after posting bail.

These are the only arrests made so far in the investigation at the ranch, which is owned by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Texas authorities said Monday FLDS men are being detained at the ranch while they continue their investigation. They said 401 children and 133 women are now in legal custody at Fort Concho in San Angelo.
