Straddling Line Between Commune, Cult

A group of Iranian militants in Iraq is now the U.S.’ responsibility. But no one is quite sure what to do with them.
The Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) — also referred to as Mujahedin Khalq, People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI), or Sazman-e Mojahedin-e Khalq-e Iran — is an Islamic socialist organization that advocates the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The United States has designated the PMOI a terrorist organization. On January 26, 2009, the Council of the European Union removed the PMOI from the EU list of organisations it designates as terrorist.
