Gilbert Deya is a Kenyan preacher who lives in the UK. He claims to head the world’s fastest growing ministry.

He also claims that his prayers help infertile women to get pregnant. These women then must travel to Kenya in order to deliver their babies. DNA tests carried out by British authorities on one of these babies proved that the child’s DNA differed from that of its parents.

Deya is fighting his extradition to Kenya, where he is wanted to stand trial on kidnapping and child trafficking charges.

In October, 2013, while still in the UK, Gilbert Deya was arrested on charges op rape and other sexual assualt.

The mystery of miracle babies

Kenyan police say Gilbert Deya Ministries is an international child trafficking ring. A British family court judge agreed, saying infertile couples and congregation members were “deceived” by Mr Deya and that he was motivated by “the most base of human avarices: financial greed”.

Government spokesman Dr. Alfred Mutua said in his weekly briefing on Thursday that once extradited, Deya will face charges of child smuggling among other charges. “The Government is pleased that as a result of a request by the Kenya Police, a case is coming up today in the United Kingdom for the extradition of Bishop Deya to Kenya to face charges of “Miracle Babies” and trafficking of children,”

Miracle baby mother ‘assaulted’

A woman desperate to have a child was “assaulted” in order to make her believe she had conceived a “miracle baby”, a court heard. Gilbert Deya, an evangelical preacher who runs an international ministry from Peckham, is facing extradition to Kenya for stealing five children and attempting to pass them off as his own.
