Nephew Beats Uncle to Death Over Witchcraft

A 42-year-old Angolan man named Tonito Muenyo in central Huambo province was beaten up to death at weekend by a nephew who believed the uncle was a witch.

Killer Jonas Troco (30) had just recovered from a prolonged illness.

He explained that his decision to finish the uncle followed instructions received during the cure at their Ekunha village some 33 kilometres from Huambo city.

Police authorities have already arrested Troco for questioning.

Cases of witchcraft accusations followed by beatings to death have been frequent over the last days in Huambo province.
