(Fairfield, Iowa)– Many students from the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightment in Fairfield are preparing to organize the first Cultural Peace Exchange in Southeast Iowa.
The ‘End School Violence Now Project” is a student organization that is part of the “Students Creating Peace Network”. It was developed shortly after the Columbine shootings in Colorado five years ago. Students from six different states will be taking part in the weekend event that will include cultural performances, group discussions and guest speakers.
“It feels great. It is wonderful to be working with the students. I have about 30 students who have dedicated themselves to this event. It’s fun and exciting,” says Lynn Kaplan, faculty adviser.
The Cultural Peace Exchange will take place on May 1st and 2nd at the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa.
