SIST hotel loses case & attorney fined

A Wisconsin appeals court has upheld a liquor law violation against an official of a Shawano hotel owned by the Samanta Roy Institute of Science & Technology – and fined its attorney $200 as well.

WLUK reports:

Darlene Sense, the official contact for the Best Western Hotel’s liquor license, was issued a municipal citation for not allowing city officials to conduct a site inspection during a private party on May 10, 2008. She appealed on several grounds, all of which were rejected by the appeals court.

In its decision, the Court of Appeals also fined Sense’s attorney, Rebekeh Nett, $200 for what it called “several brazen assertions that are completely unsupported by the record.” […]

SIST, which deems itself a non-profit educational organization, has had several legal battles with municipal officials in recent years.
