TORONTO — The 55-year-old pastor of a Toronto church at the centre of allegations of gang sexual assault was arrested on separate charges Monday.
Pastor Jae-Kap Song was charged with inappropriate touching of a woman who was renting an apartment he owned and also attended this church. Police said the incident happened in February.
The pastor’s indictment comes as the church is embroiled in separate alleged sex crimes which police say involve gang rape.
The two cases are separate.
Eight former parishioners of Song’s Canada’s Jesus First Church congregation, six men and two women, are accused of child porn and administering drugs for sex.
Last week six men were arrested and charged for a series of gang sexual assaults on women and one young girl they allegedly met through the Korean community church.
Over the weekend two women were also arrested.
The men in custody were also charged with making child pornography involving the underage girl. Three other women are believed to have been violently assaulted over the past several months.
“It is a series of events that took place from fall of 2009 to February 2010. Six men participated in gang sexual assaults against four women,” said Const. Boyd Li last week. “We believe they are (members of the church).”
