A 29-year-old man has been charged with possessing articles for terrorist purposes following a raid at London Mosque last Monday.
Five of the other six men arrested have been cleared of terrorism charges.
After the raid on the Finsbury Park Mosque, where the controversial cleric Muslims were angered that their place of worship had become the focus of police and media scrutiny, despite it being linked to ‘shoe-bomber’ Richard Reid, who tried to blow up a Miami-bound passenger jet, and Frenchman Zacharias Moussaoui, the alleged 20th hijacker on September 11.
The police operation – codenamed Mermant – saw around 150 officers in body armour, including anti-terrorist officers, using battering rams to enter the building.
Hamza condemned the raid and accused the police and Government of adopting “Rambo-style” tactics.
