ATLANTA (AP) — First it was Juanita Bynum who was seeking a divorce from her husband. Now, it appears her televangelist husband is filing a counterclaim for divorce.
Attorneys for Thomas W. Weeks III are filing a four-page counterclaim which makes a plea for the divorce to be awarded to Weeks.
In the response to the original divorce petition, Weeks admits to most of the allegations in Bynum’s complaint. But he challenges her claim that the two have been separated since June. Weeks said they spent one night together in August that boosted his hopes for reconciliation. It the the following day, August 22nd, that Bynum claims that her husband beat her.
A police report says she told officers Weeks choked her, pushed her down, kicked her and stomped her. He faces charges of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.
He’s currently free on $40,000 bond.
