The court in Ringkøbing yesterday ordered the release from Tvind-founder Amdi Petersen, who is facing trial for fraud on behalf of allmost 25 million euro’s.  Prosecutor Poul Gade appealed against this decision, which means a higher court will have to take a final determinination, probably within a few days. For the time being Amdi Petersen will have to wait in jail, where he has been staying now for allmost eleven months.

The prosecution wants to be sure the court case can be finished, if necessary without the presence of Amdi Petersen. The prosecution is afraid the Tvind-founder may attempt to flee. Amdi has different aliases, police found out after his arrest last year February in Los Angeles. Amdi is being chrged with fraud and embezzlement with money of Tvind’s Humanitarian Foundation. Police think Tvind used the money for private purposes instead of humanitarian goals.

The prosecution yesterday came up with a new document, which should be part of the proof Amdi Petersen is in fact the leader of the Tvind-Teachers Group. He showed an E-mail, which links Tvind’s development organisation Humana directly to himself. In the E-mail Amdi orders members of the Teachers Group to produce documents to make sure that in the court case in Belgium against eight members of the Teachers Group only one of them -Else Jensen- can be punished for tax evasion. The eight TG-members are being sued for tax evasion on account of five million euro’s.

Amdi Petersen claims only te be an advisor.
