Family of slain minister sues accused wife

The parents of a slain Church of Christ minister in West Tennessee have filed a 2 million dollar wrongful-death lawsuit against his wife.

Mary Winkler is scheduled to stand trial for first-degree murder next month in the March 2006 shooting death of Matthew Winkler.

Matthew Winkler’s parents, Dan and Diane Winkler of Huntingdon, Tennessee, filed the suit in McNairy County on behalf of the couple’s three young daughters.

Mary Winkler is currently free on $750,000 bond and living with friends in McMinnville, where she works at a dry cleaners.

Mary Winkler was arrested the day after the slaying in Orange Beach, Alabama.
