Roman police task force to fight satanism

Rome, Dec. 6, 2006 (CWNews.com) – Rome’s chief of police has asked for Vatican collaboration in launching a special task force to counteract satanic cults.

The police chief, Gianni De Gennaro, said that the new group– working under the acronym SAS– would consist of 15 police officers and consulting psychologists. He asked the Holy See to recommend priests who could add their insights to the effort.

The Roman official explained that satanic groups have become a significant concern for law-enforcement officials because of their involvement in drug trafficking and sexual violence.
