Where in Washington, D.C. is Sun Myung Moon? In far too many places, it appears. Small wonder. In March, 2004, the self-declared ‘Messiah’ – and the leader of a religious cult known as the Unification Church – was crowned ‘King of America’ at a U.S. Senate Building.
Moon claims to have the support of Jesus, yes that Jesus, whom he allegedly met at a meeting “in the spirit world.” Muhammad, Confucius, Buddha, Martin Luther and John Harvard were also said to have been in attendance at the meeting.
Lesser (dimmer) lights were present at Moon’s coronation: a gaggle of U.S. congressmen.
At the time, all of this was well-documented by John Gorenfeld, a freelance writer who has long chronicled Sun Myung Moon’s antics at his blog, “Where in the World is Sun Myung Moon?.” The blog went on hiatus in December last year. It is now back in business, and you’ll want to keep an eye on it.
By the way, here’s a video of Moon’s crowning:
A transcript is posted at Gorenfeld’s blog.
