Cash reward for ‘miracle’ baby parents

Police are offering a 100,000 shillings reward for information regarding the parents of a baby in the latest Deya miracle baby scandal.

The wife of Archbishop Gilbert Deya, Mary, claims to have given birth to the baby, but police say DNA tests have proved that she is not the child’s mother.

In a statement from CID headquarters police are appealing to members of the public to give information that could reveal the biological mother of the three week old baby.

Mary has already been charged with stealing the child and is awaiting trial.

Earlier in court, the State said it wanted the public barred from the hearing of another case Mary is facing over the theft of five other babies.

The prosecution says this is in the interest of the five children who are the subject of the trial, and are due to give evidence.

Mary is accused of stealing the children from unknown parents.

She is facing three other similar cases after claiming she had given birth to several miracle babies.

The case involving the five children will now be heard on the 26th of October.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of her husband to face similar charges in Kenya.
