Yoga teacher has fishy record

Youth swallows 509 fish and breathes them out alive

Cuddalore: A youth has sought an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records by swallowing 509 ornamental fish and bringing them out alive through the nostrils.

Twentyfive-year-old Vijayakumar, who runs a yoga centre, swallowed the fish one by one and breathed them out alive before a gathering here yesterday.

Within an hour, he was able to swallow 509 ornamental fish, a feat which, he hoped, would win him an entry into the Guinness Book.

The youth, who has a penchant for creating records, attributed his success to regular yoga practice.

In 2003, Vijayakumar performed about 100 ”asanas” standing on an ice bar, an achievement he wanted to better in his next venture.

Walking and skipping with one leg on a one-and-a-half-foot broad bridge wall were his other records.
