Destiny promotes Tamaki to bishop

Destiny has bestowed a new title on Auckland-based evangelist Brian Tamaki.

Formerly Pastor Brian, the head and founder of Destiny Church is to become New Zealand’s newest bishop, he confirmed in Dunedin last night.

While the title may not yet be official, it was as Bishop Tamaki that he was introduced to a gathering of about 100 people at Dunedin North Intermediate last night.

Speaking after the service, Bishop Tamaki said his movement had felt the time was right to ordain its first bishop.

It is expected the title will be formally conferred at Destiny’s seventh birthday in July.
