Ireland’s High Court has made an order allowing the Coombe Hospital in Dublin to carry out an emergency blood transfusion on a baby girl born prematurely last week. The baby, who weighs less than one kilogram, was born to Jehovah’s Witness parents, who have refused to agree to a blood transfusion should it become necessary.

Fifty-eight-year-old Bruce Huff believes it is a sin to receive any blood or blood products. When his wife, 58-year-old Candy Huff, became unconscious several weeks ago and was rushed to Clark Memorial Hospital, he wrote a letter to the staff telling them not to give her blood transfusions. The hospital filed a petition in Clark County Circuit Court asking that someone be appointed to make medical decisions for Candy Huff, alleging Bruce Huff was unable to make decisions in her best interest.

Members of the small minority Christian group in Sudan said the sect was wrongly accused of preventing its followers from taking part for religious reasons in the vote on Sunday that will likely see the south secede.
Theologically the movement is considered to be a cult of Christianity. The organization behind it claims to be God’s only representative on earth, and yet keeps changing its mind on many issues, including voting.
The Governor of Western Equatoria state (Sudan) last December referred to Jehovah Witnesses who did not register to vote in Southern Sudan’s independence referendum as “traitors”

Jehovah's Witnesses:
A hospital has won the right to give a child potentially life-saving blood transfusions despite the religious objections of the boy and his family. In a South Australian legal first, the Supreme Court this afternoon gave the Women’s and Children’s Hospital the right to give a 10-year-old boy – a member of the Jehovah’s Witness faith – transfusions as part of his cancer treatment.
