Iglesia Internacional Jesus es el Rey (International Church Jesus is the King) is a small house church in Balch Springs, a Dallas subburb.

At least seven adults and six children who lived there followed orders from self-proclaimed prophet Aracely Meza, authorities say.

Meza was arrested in April 2015 for allegedly helping starve to death a 2-year-old boy to rid him of a “demon,” then holding a resurrection ceremony shortly after he died to try to revive him.

The Dallas Morning News says police reports and interviews with witnesses describe a fearful, isolated environment in the house.

Not much is known about the church’s theology, but this appears to be theologically a cult of Christianity.

Like many such groups, sociologically it has cult-like elements as well.

Child in ‘resurrection ceremony’ starved more than 20 days

Aracely Meza, a ‘prophet’ who operated the Iglesia Internacional Jesus es el Rey church at her home in the Dallas suburb of Balch Springs, has been arrested for allegedly helping starve to death a 2-year-old boy to rid him of a “demon,” then holding a resurrection ceremony shortly after he died to try to revive him, investigators say.
