RNB Quick Takes…
- is our front-page column highlighting ‘religion news in brief.’
- is a compendium of blurbs and links to, for the most part, religion-related news stories.
- may include quotes, summaries, analyses, opinions and — at times — praise, criticism or even some lighthearted fun.
- includes links pointing back to the sources of the news articles — and frequently also to related research resources.
In other words it’s an excellent way to quickly catch up on today’s top religion news reports, key facts, and other religion information sources.
As with the rest of Religion News Blog, RNB Quick Takes is edited by real-life people — a ‘flesh and blood’ editorial team as opposed to some automated software.
Why?
We like religion news because one way or another it helps people evaluate religious beliefs, faith-based actions, and related issues.
Over the years our blog has focused on news about cults, religious sects, world religions and various associated movements, denominations, and individuals.
We also pay attention to ethics. For instance, in our editorial comments we take a stand on such topics as human rights violations (e.g. the dead penalty, torture, illegal warfare), religious freedom and religious persecution.
But our primary goal is to help a wide variety of people who have come to rely on Religion News Blog to stay on top of key religion articles and other resources.
Our new ‘Religion News in Brief’ column fits right in with that goal.
We’ve tried a similar approach in the past — with RNB Quick Links and the popular RNB Roundup. RNB Quick Takes allows us to post such items in a much more timely fashion.
RSS
You can subscribe to RNB Quick Takes with any RSS news reader, such as Google Reader [See: What is RSS?].
NOTE: In the RSS feed each item is listed individually. However, since those items are not posted on individual pages — but rather are part of one column — each clickable headline leads back to the RNB Quick Takes home page.
