Marin County may be etched in the public imagination as a liberal land of hot tubs, aging hippies and free thinkers, but even a bastion of alternative spirituality apparently has its limits. His message was that with the proper techniques, each individual could find peace, as one of his disciples, George Harrison, sang, within. Today, his organization claims to hold U.S. assets of $300 million and to have taught six million adherents – training now costs $2,500 – in T.M. centers around the world.
