Parents are arraigned in church ’sacrifice’
Police say couple attempted to kill children on altar
ROCHESTER, N.H. — A Farmington woman and her boyfriend were arraigned Friday on charges accusing them of forcing their way into a church on Wednesday and saying they were going to sacrifice her three children on the church altar.
Nicole Mancini, 29, and John Thurber, 35, of Rochester, were arrested at St. Mary’s Church.
Both Mancini and Thurber were arraigned on three misdemeanor counts of child endangerment. Thurber also faces a charge of marijuana drug possession.
Police say a pajama-clad Mancini arrived at the church just before 3 p.m. Wednesday with Thurber and her sons, aged 9, 7, and 2. Thurber is the father of the youngest boy.
The two were arrested without incident. The boys were not hurt and were placed in state custody.
