Two officers attached to the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) are in the country to investigate the “miracle babies” saga.

The detectives, who jetted in on Sunday night, are here to gather information that will assist their government in unraveling the “miracle babies” scandal.

Top on their agenda is to investigate some of Archbishop Gilbert Deya’s investments in Kenya since he settled in the UK.

Police sources told The Standard that the two would work with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers who have been handling the case.

Some of the people to be questioned are Deya’s close relatives, neighbours, friends, immigration officers and journalists.

Deya moved to Scotland to avoid being extradited to Kenya by the British government to answer child theft charges.

This was after CID officers found nine babies at his Mountain View Estate home and 11 others at one of his followers, Mr Michael Odera’s home, in Komarock Estate in August this year.

DNA tests carried out showed only one of the children, identified as David Deya, matched that of Mrs Mary Deya.

In September, the UK’s Charity Commission launched investigations into Deya’s ministries based in Deptford, south London and froze his charity accounts.

The charity runs churches in London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Liverpool and Manchester. Deya had started putting up a bungalow at his Sakwa home.
