Electronic Whiplash…
If you’re a regular Religion News Blog reader, you may have noticed that for the past two weeks we’ve been posting fewer stories than usual. This is due to a serious computer melt-down (quite literally) that crashed our main system.
We’re still suffering from the electronic whiplash, so to speak, but fortunately we had backups of nearly everything we need and want to keep. (You do have backups yourself, right?)
However, it took us a while to find a suitable replacement for the computer itself. After all, our personal budget does not at all allow for the expenses associated with our work, which includes operating two populair websites (Religion News Blog, and its parent site, Apologetics Index). A new computer was out of the question.
We did use several loaner machines, gracefully provided by friends and family members, but we needed something more suitable. To our great delight, someone who had heard about the crash contacted us and offered a loan that would enable us to get a new computer! That machine is now up and running. We’re still in the process of restoring backups and answering a huge backlog of emails. However, Religion News Blog’s regular service is picking up steam again. (We’re also catching up by posting post-dated stories in order to insure that the archives are complete).
Can you help?
That said, if this site is of service to you - and you are a regular Religion News Blog reader - please note that this is a reader-supported website. While we do get some commission income from the advertisements on our pages, that is not nearly enough to cover the cost of running the site - let alone paying back the computer loan.
Our services will always be provided free of charge, and we never want anyone to feel obligated to donate anything. We do consider each and every gift a big help, though. If you are willing and able to donate any amount (even $5 or $10 is more helpful than you might think), please do so via PayPal. (PayPal is safe and easy. Here’s how it works.) Other donation options are listed here.
Meanwhile, we thank you for visiting, and for making Religion News Blog the foremost news service on religious cults, sects, alternative religions and related issues.
And remember, if you’re planning to visit Amsterdam, Netherlands, do contact us. We’d enjoy meeting with you.
Regards,
Anton and Janet Hein-Hudson
