Meintjies daughter will not let state to bury father
The daughter of the late Paul Meintjies says she will not allow the state to bury her father. Dalene Swanepoel has said this after the Hertzogville police said they would apply to the Bloemfontein High Court for permission to bury Meintjies.
Meintjies’ widow and her two children missed their deadline last night to inform police about funeral arrangements. Meintjies’ body was taken to the state mortuary in Bloemfontein on Saturday after the Free State department of health decided that it posed a health risk.
The body was kept in a mortuary in Hertzogville for 50 days before being delivered to the Meintjies home by a local undertaker.
Swanepoel has organised a memorial service for her father in Kimberley today. The service will not be attended by Meintjies’ widow and two other children.
