A man in Orissa has been sentenced to death for killing six people last year.

The sessions court at Sundergarh, 400 km from here, passed the sentence against Dileswar Barik of a village in the area Tuesday after hearing 23 witnesses.

Barik, 25, had killed three men and three women with a sharp weapon in January last year because he suspected that they were practising witchcraft, police said.

He had been captured and handed over to police by the villagers.
