Police Seize Bloody Knife From Lori Hacking’s Home
Authorities in Utah continue to investigate the disappearance of 27-year old Lori Hacking. Her husband alerted police when his pregnant wife did not return from her morning jog.
Various media reports say police have collected a number of items from the couple’s apartment. A report that Salt Lake City officials have seized a bloody knife with strands of hair attached to it from the home of Mark and Lori Hacking. That knife is one of many items seized from the Hacking home, including a set of boxed springs, some bedding, and a computer.
Officially police are not talking about the evidence.
Salt Lake City Police, Dwayne Baird said, ” We have to make sure the family is not continually revictimized by what is being reported in the press before we have the chance to express what is happening to them or to the investigation.”
Police continue to say that the husband is not an official suspect, but rather a person of interest.
But the evidence collected could be incriminating.
Yesterday in a local television interview Lori’s father, Harold Soares said that if Mark had anything to do with the disappearance of his daughter he would like him to come clean, that he just wants to find Lori so he can give her a proper burial.
On Sunday, July 25, 2004, both families presented a united front.
Lori’s mother, Thelma Soares said, “We love Mark as though he were our son, and the Hackings love Lori as if she were their own daughter…If anything this tragedy has brought us closer together.”
