Madonna performs at private party in Yiddish
Kabbalah devotee Madonna stunned guests at a private party for the sect’s guru Phillip Berg in New York by singing two songs in Yiddish.
The singer — who prefers to be called by her Kabbalah name Esther when in private — was so pleased by the reaction, she is considering releasing a single in Yiddish.
One onlooker says, “Madonna performed two songs in Yiddish in front of 50 or so guests.
“The staff working at the party were absolutely baffled when she took to the stage. I think most people were expecting her to belt out one of her big top ten hits.
Madonna’s enthusiasm for the Kabbalah is shared by her British film director husband Guy Ritchie, who is currently penning a novel inspired by the mystical offshoot of Judaism.
