A federal judge sentenced convicted child molester and cult leader Malachi York Thursday to 135 years in federal prison.

The sentence came after 57-year-old York told a packed courtroom he did not receive a fair trial and that Judge Ashley Royal chose a jury of his own peers to hear the case in January.

“I’ll probably be sentenced to life because it was probably be convenient to get a man of my stature off the streets,” York said before he was sentenced. “This case had nothing to do with child molestation … It was always about my religious beliefs.”

Royal said the sentencing on 10 counts of child molestation and racketeering was not the toughest sentence York could have faced - he could have given him life in prison.
