Cult members in two Institutions last week engaged in a battle of supremacy, killing three.

In Offa, the ancient town of Federal Polytechnic, Offa, cultists clashed leaving two students dead last Monday.

According to sources, two rival cult groups had pursued themselves over a carry-over issue, meeting at Offa township where they clashed.

The bone of contention between the rival groups could not be ascertained but sources claimed that the cultist had met in Lagos over an unresolved wrangling.

Campus Cults
Nigeria’s so-called “Campus Cults” are criminal gangs usually operating in and around the country’s colleges.

Members of the cult groups who are belived to be students of the federal institutions met in Offa and decided to settle their differences once and for all.

The cult goups met at one of the private residences in the town where another misunderstanding snowballed into bloodletting, leading to the death of two of them believed to be students of the institution.

In Ilorin, another cult group struck on Wednesday night at the State College of Education, killing a 200 level Accounting student who was writing his first semester exam.

The slain student, according to family sources, had just parted with his father in Surulere area of Ilorin on the pretext of picking an item from his cousin residing in one of the hostels of the institution.

He was said to have barely alighted from the cab that took him to the front of the institution when a hail of bullet killed him instantly.

His father who was immediately contacted later went to the gory scene where he met the lifeless body of his son in a pool of his own blood.

Contacted over the killing of the Offa Polytechnic students, the School’s spokesman, Wole Alawode clarified that the authority coud not confirm the studentship of the victims as the institution is still yet to resume for new academic session.

But the command police boss, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar confirmed the cult clashes and death of the students.

He said that due to the upsurge in cultist and criminal activities in Offa, the command has despatched 200 Mobile Policeman to guide against any sudden breakdown of law and order.
