AG intends to terminate Mungiki case

Attorney-General Amos Wako has declared his intention to terminate a case in which immediate former Nakuru town member of parliament, David Manyara Njuki and 13 suspected members of the outlawed Mungiki sect are charged with ten counts of murder and have fresh charges preferred against them.

When the case came up for hearing , Senior State-Counsel,Evans Onderi served the trial judge, Justice Muga Apondi with a nolle prosequi notice dated March 17, this year duly signed by Wako.

Onderi said the state had decided to terminate the case and have fresh charges preferred against the accused persons after it lost a bid to appeal against a decision by the trial judge rejecting admission of confession statements of accused persons in the case.
