LONGVIEW — Longview police say a man who’s accused of beating a volunteer at a church during a robbery attempt — is a member of the congregation.

Eighteen-year-old Robert Daniel Murray of Longview was arraigned today on two counts of aggravated assault.

He’s free on 100-thousand dollars bond.

Murray surrendered last night. He was accompanied by his attorney.

Detective Monty Gage says Murray isn’t acquainted with the victim or never targeted her in particular.

Fifty-six-year-old Laura White of Tatum is hospitalized today in serious condition.

She suffered head and face injuries in Monday afternoon’s attack at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Longview.
