Two students of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State were on Monday killed by suspected rival cult members while three ex-students of the institution were arrested by the police in Offa.
The polytechnic, which began the last semester examinations last Monday, had requested for police protection to enable them conduct the examinations peacefully.
The need for police protection THISDAY gathered followed a threat letter written by some members of a suspected cult group to the school authorities stating theri intentions to disrupt the examination, if one of their colleagues called “Basit” was not released by the police.
In order to forestall the breakdown of law and order, the school authority requested for police protection to enable them conduct the examinations.
THISDAY checks revealed that the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Alhaji Mohammed Dikko Abubakar was not aware of the developments in the college nor of the release of the said student in Police detention who was claimed to be one of the immediate past students union executives of the college.
Investigation further revealed that the said student leader was arrested for allegedly being in possession of a gun, which he shot into the air on campus before he was arrested.

They are expected to be on surveillance mission throughout the period of the examinations which is expected to end on 23rd December, 2003.
