Sheriff: Animal Mutilation Appears Related To Cult
LEXINGTON, N.C. — The acting Davidson County sheriff says it appears the death of a cow whose severed head was found in an apartment complex is related to cult activity.
The animal head was found last Friday morning outside the office of the Ridge Mill Apartments. Someone found the rest of the body in a pasture a number of miles away in the county. It had been stabbed, cut open and some organs removed.
Acting Sheriff Dallas Hedrick says there are no suspects in the killing. He says the mutilation style of the killing and the timing suggest a satanic ritual.
Investigators say cults sometimes mark the start of the autumnal equinox with such sacrifices.
