FUKUI — A member of the Pana Wave Laboratory cult-like group died Friday in a hospital to which he was taken after being found unconscious in a creek in the city of Fukui earlier in the morning, firefighters said.

The creek runs beside a building used by the Pana Wave group and the local fire department received a call around 1:50 a.m. from another member of the group who said he heard a noise, looked into the creek, and found the man there, the firefighters said.
