15 Pupils Arrested for Alleged Cultism
Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed that cultism thrives in secondary schools even as it is said that it had arrested five students alleged to be members of Blue Angels Confraternity in Etim and Owutu Secondary School.
Addressing newsmen in Abakaliki on Tuesday, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (CID), Mr. Joe Bakaiye, said that the suspects: Olughu Chima, Amos Udu Eku, Kalu Ugwu, Orji Ukpai and Dominic Ekuma Oko, have made useful statements to the Police.
He stressed that hard times await any student, be it in the primary, secondary or tertiary institution in the state who was found to be involved in cult activities, adding that the five suspects would be arraigned in court while further investigation continued.
Meanwhile, the state police command has dismissed six out of the seven policemen caught extorting money from motorists.
The seventh person, Inspector Cletus Danis was demoted to the rank of sergeant for leading a team of four Policemen to extort N2, 710 from motorists at Ikwo, Ebonyi central Senatorial zone.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO) Mr. Chijioke Nwokoma, said that the affected policemen were found guilty after an orderly trial.
