Man starts music church to bypass zoning laws
MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. — When local officials wouldn’t let feedmaker Willy Pritts hold concerts on his land in Pennsylvania, he founded what he calls the Church of Universal Love and Music.
Pritts said his land is now a non-denominational parish committed to spiritual growth through music.
Fayette County officials say Pritts’ new religion is just a way to dodge zoning laws.
He said they’re just prejudiced against his music and beliefs.
Pritts said that for $75 a year, members of his church have access to all the jazz, bluegrass and rock concerts on his land.
While much of the music doesn’t sound religious, Pritts’ church has hosted Sunday worship services, and a couple got married there this past weekend.
