Malaysian cult keeps leader’s decomposed body for 13 months
Cult leader Ching Chi Vui claimed he would be resurrected
Followers of a religious cult in Malaysia’s eastern Sabah state wrapped the body of their dead cult leader in plastic and laid it in his home for 13 months while waiting for him to be resurrected, a news report said Sunday.
The leader of the Benevolent Missionary Association, Ching Chi Vui aka Ivan, was believed to have told his followers not to bury him if he were to die, because he would come back to life, the Sunday Star reported.

Police remained tight-lipped over the bizarre discovery but it is believed that the body was badly decomposed but neighbours had not complained of a foul smell.
Instead, police had only received complaints on the chanting of prayers late into the night.
It is learnt that police have detained the three women aged between 26 and 44 from Tawau for questioning and are waiting for a post-mortem report on the cause of Ching’s death.

Although the post-mortem result is not out, Penampang police chief Deputy Supt Usat Madang said initial investigations did not show any criminal element was involved in the death of Ching Chi Vui @ Ivan, 37, from Tawau.
“They were no visible signs of injury to the body,” he said yesterday.
