Tbilisi, 1 February: The extremist Orthodox Christian organization Jvari [Cross], based in the town of Rustavi [south- east of Tbilisi], has carried out yet another attack on a gathering of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Peaceful worshippers were brutally beaten up in an attack this morning, Kavkasia-Press was told at the press service of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The attack was carried out by the leader of this radical Orthodox Christian organization, Paata Bluashvili and his associates. It is worth noting that although Bluashvili had repeatedly spoken in television interviews about his intentions to organize massive attacks on Jehovah’s Witnesses, the authorities did nothing to prevent the attack on peaceful worshippers.
According to the press service, a member of the local group of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Giorgi Meparishvili, was taken to hospital after two radicals had beaten him up severely.
