Protesters accuse China of illegal organ harvesting
About 80 members of the Falun Gong sect have gathered at Sydney’s Darling Harbour to protest against what they say is China’s killing of Falun Gong practictioners for organ donation.
The Falon Gong are outside the venue where the International Congress of the Transplantation Society is taking place.
The sect’s members say they are appealing to the Congress to help stop the illegal harvesting of organs.
The Transplantation Society says it is doing what it can to work with China on its transplant programs, after Falun Gong practitioners protested outside the society’s international congress today.
Chairman of the Congress, Dr Jeremy Chapman says the Society does not know if China is guilty of the practice.
