Cult leader to stand trial for hiding dead woman in his bathroom
A self-proclaimed religious leader in Necedah has been ordered to stand trial for allegedly hiding a dead woman in his bathroom so he could collect her benefits.
Alan Bushey, 57. will enter pleas June 23 in Juneau County to felony charges of hiding a corpse and causing mental harm to children.
He also faces two misdemeanor theft charges.
Authorities said Bushey and Tammy Lewis placed a dead 90-year-old woman on a toilet seat for two months while they kept getting her Social Security and annuity payments.
Prosecutors said Lewis’s two children kept seeing the dead woman’s body.
The religious group is known as the Order of the Divine Will. Officials say it only has six members.
