Evangelist Juanita Bynum releases new DVD
A new DVD featuring national evangelist Juanita Bynum behind the pulpit is expected to hit major stores Tuesday.
The two-hour DVD, “Unplugged,” is a compilation of exclusive interviews, sermon highlights and performances from Bynum’s gold-selling gospel CD “A Piece of My Passion.”
It will be available at Wal-Mart and Target stores among other retailers, said her publicist Amy Malone.
A portion of proceeds for “Unplugged,” which was recorded at a metro Atlanta church, will help to support organizations fighting domestic violence.
“It will be a domestic violence charity, we just don’t know which one yet,” said Malone.
“Unplugged” is being released by Flow Records. According to the Texas-based label, Bynum is its best-selling female gospel recording artist. She has been on the Billboard Charts for more than 88 weeks for her last CD, officials report.
Bynum, who recently made national headlines with a very public divorce filing, has called herself the “new face of domestic violence.”
The 48-year-old pastor has accused her estranged husband Thomas W. Weeks III of beating, choking and stomping her to the ground in an Atlanta hotel parking lot in August.
The couple has since filed for divorce in Gwinnett County.
Weeks, who denies the beating, was charged with felony aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple battery in connection with the alleged attack.
