Rally against Richard Roberts
(TULSA, Okla.) October 22 – Some are calling for Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts to step down for good.
A rally was held tonight at Morningstar Baptist Church. This comes less than a week after Roberts announced a temporary leave of absence as he defends himself, the university, and his wife, from allegations listed in lawsuit filed by three former ORU professors.
Several clergy members from around the country spoke to the congregation, calling on Roberts to resign.
Meanwhile Oral Roberts himself was back at ORU today and said his son will not be resigning. He says Richard will soon be back at his post as president.
The event tonight was part of the Oklahoma State Baptist Convention. Convention members and the church want to make it very clear, while they did invite the clergy and professor to be here tonight, they do not support the cause for Richard Roberts to resign.
The president of the ORU Board of Regents released a statement tonight saying the status of Richard Roberts’ return is undetermined. The statement also said there will be a full, independent review and audit of the issues related to the allegations and all reasonable methods will be considered, including mediation.
