Former spy David Shayler is to tour the country to tell people he is the Messiah . . . and spread his message of unconditional love.

The MI5 whistleblower, who claims to be receiving messages from Yeshua — believed to be the Hebrew name for Jesus — is now living in a log cabin in Devon with friends and admits his family are worried about him.

Despite this, Teesside- born Shayler is determined to carry on with his plan.

He said: “I am an incarnate of Jesus. I have not spoken to rabbis or priests about it. I am getting stuff directly from the big man.

“I am not having a breakdown. I have not seen a doctor. I do not need to see one. I am absolutely sane.

“I have no doubt in my heart I am the Messiah.

“It is not a good idea to be taking the p*** out of someone offering you eternal life.”

Shayler — who was jailed for breaching the Official Secrets Act after revealing information about MI5 including claims it tried to assassinate Libyan Leader Colonel Gaddafi — has based his bizarre conclusions on what he sees as two pieces of evidence.

Firstly, he claims that during a visit to a psychic the spirit of Mary Magdalene came to him and anointed him the new Messiah.

He also claims that the Rod of Aaron, the staff said to have been carried by Moses’s brother, has an anagram written on it in Hebrew which says “David Shayler is God.”

He said: “Three years ago I became spiritual. As a result of my experiences — going to court and prison — I found myself in a dark place and kept reading about Kabbalah.

“My family are slightly worried. My brother phoned me up and thought I’d gone mad. ”

The 41-year-old, who in recent years has been earning a living giving talks to conspiracy theorists about the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, claims the persecution he has suffered throughout his life also points to him being the son of God.

Shayler, who split from long-time girlfriend Annie Machon, revealed he can no longer talk to her because she wrote about him in the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
