Marijuana Trafficking Center Closed in Beaches, Toronto
Beaches Mission of God Assembly of the Church of the Universe sold marijuana club membership cards.
Due to numerous complaints from residents and businesses in the Beaches, the Toronto Drug Squad and members of 55 Division conducted investigations into an alleged marijuana trafficking operation at 1905 Queen Street East.
The operators of this premises, named “G13 Beaches Mission of God Assembly of the Church of the Universe,” sold membership cards to marijuana buyers and sold marijuana and smoking paraphernalia to the membership.
The building was also used as a smoking lounge by the buyers since one of the occupants had a permit to possess marijuana for personal medicinal use, from Health Canada.
However, he and his associates had no authority to traffic marijuana, and he was in possession of amounts far in excess of what was authorized.
The man and his friends hid behind the issuance of a medicinal marijuana possession permit that helped them selling large quantities of marijuana.
After a month-long undercover investigation, police seized approximately 4 500 grams of marijuana, 151 marijuana plants, and 1,200 grams of hashish and weed oil with a street value of $290,000.
Growing equipment, drug-smoking paraphernalia, and $6,397 cash were also discovered.
Eleven people who were arrested face 193 drug-trafficking-related charges.
Twelve people who allegedly purchased marijuana at the premises were arrested and charged with 12 possession of marijuana offences.
