Cult Mum Reveals Agony of Son Killing
The mother of an Irish teenage cult member who was beheaded by guerrillas has given a rare interview about his death.
Tristan James, grandson of Screamers founder Jenny James, died six years ago in Colombia where he was living since the cult left the retreat in Inisfree, Co Donegal, where he was born.
His mum Rebecca Garcia (James) says she now wishes she had provided him with a more conventional upbringing.
Rebecca says: “I get upset because it could have been so different.
“He really loved life and, with all the war and conflict between me and his dad over my lifestyle and his, I suppose I see now. Tristan just wanted his mum and dad to be together and I feel upset that I didn’t provide for him.”
The cult’s therapy involved participants screaming their lungs out.
Oileáin: Atlantis will be shown on RTE One tomorrow at 7.30pm.
