Emeka King had no hand in Ann’s death, witnesses say
Hearing continued yesterday in the case of attempted murder and murder preferred against the embattled founder and General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, (CPA), Rev Emeka Ezeugo, aka Rev. King with two other defence witnesses entering the witness box in defence of the cleric.
The witnesses, Rev Sister Maria and one Okechukwu Eze, testified that the controversial pastor of CPA had nothing to do with the death of one of the church members, Ann Uzor, who died as a result of severe burns she suffered this year.
The first witness, Rev Sister Maria, corroborated the statement made Tuesday by another defence witness that they were contacted by an estranged member of the church, one Godwin Akubue, to implicate Rev. King in the case. Maria told the court that she was promised a juicy amount of money following which she would be flown abroad if she carried out the instructions.
She said that although she was not at the scene of the incident where the deceased (Ann) caught fire, but she was aware that Rev King was not in any way connected with the incident.
Also, the third witness, Eze who lives in Mushin told the court that he was informed by Kelechi that there was an incident where Ann was burnt when she was putting fuel into the generator. He however stated that he did not know who reported that matter to the police, which eventually led to the court case.
During cross-examination, both witnesses admitted that they were not at the scene of the incident, but were informed of what happened following the fire incident.
The matter continues today.
