Newport, AR — There was a hostage situation that took place tonight at the Pentacostal Church of God in Newport. The tense situation has been resolved peacefully.

44 year old Tammy Estes, wife of pastor Larry Estes, was in church with up to 60 members of the church’s congregation when she stood up with a gun. Sources say estes was reacting to the allegations of a possible affair.

Most of the church left the building, but 10 people stayed behind to try and talk estes down. Later when the situation escalated those 10 ten people become hostages.

Newport Police, Arkansas State Police and the Jackson County Sheriff’s department responded to the situation. There are no reports of any injuries during tonight’s tense stand-off.
