Moon sect denied permission to hold a meeting in Tbilisi
Tbilisi, June 22, Interfax – As the Moon sect was denied permission to hold a meeting at a theatre in Tbilisi, its leaders stated their determination to obtain their rights through court.
The sect planned to hold their meeting at the Rustaveli Theatre in Tbilisi, but after the Georgian Orthodox Church’s statement describing it as an anti-Christian and sacrilegious association, the theatre administration refused to provide a facility for the meeting.
A representative of the sect told journalists that the meeting would still be held in the Georgina capital and the ban on it was a violation of human rights.
‘We will look for a hall not afraid of either the patriarch or the Georgian authorities’, he said.
The Georgian Orthodox Church urged the Georgian population not to come into contact with the Moon sect (its other names are Federation for World Peace and the Unification Church)
