Authorities suspect a satanic cult is responsible for slitting the throats of six members of the same family in Colombia.
The Associated Press reports one of the victims was a child.
The murders took place on June 6, 2006, or 6-6-6, a set of numbers considered by some to be the mark of the devil.
Jorge Gomez, a human rights official in the town of Barrancabermeja, Santander Province, tells the AP, “It seems to have been related to today’s date.”
Authorities were suspicious about there being six victims, adding to their belief that there was a ritualistic aspect to the crime.
Police questioned three family members who were in the house during the killings.
One suspect who is not a relative has been detained.
